My Badminton Campaign!
The nature of my
project is to gain as much experience by getting overseas to be in an
environment where I can reach my full potential. I have been identified as a
talent in this sport with full potential to be as good or even better of any of
the world-class players in the international circuit. But to do this the most
crucial step to becoming more than just a good player in Oceania- and succeed
and win medals at world level is exposure an access to a world-class
environment.
This I believe is
achieved by dedication, commitment and quality training and competing overseas.
- Training overseas as the level
of intensity, drive and competition in the environment is so much stronger than
it is locally.
- Secondly the number of players
driven to become top players is much more than we have here, due to a high
number of players. Therefore higher quality sparring partners, different games
tactics, skills and techniques to play and compete against.
- Being exposed overseas and
playing international tournaments also allows the opportunity to play different
game styles and learning to perform in pressure situations, exposing new
weaknesses and strengths.
- Training Camps: regularly
training in Xiamen, China for 5-6 weeks during the off season several times a year
allowing me to focus intensely and solely on just badminton- with minimal
distractions. (i.e. work, university). Working on technique and tactics-in
an environment where the majority of players are just as dedicated.
- Tournaments: Both European and
Asian tournaments these are a different level to Oceania tournaments as every
round of the tournament is 50/50 and no game
is ever easy
