Check out the progress of Aucklander Kevin Dennerly-Minturn
(College Rifles Club), who along with partner
Oliver Leydon-Davis (WKO) have had some great
results overseas. They beat a Spanish pair Rafael /
Velazquez in the first round of the
Italian Open and in
the quarterfinals of the Turkish International had a
close match against the 2nd seeds from France -
Baptiste Careme / Sylvain Grosjean
(World Ranking of 39) 17-21,19-21.

New Restructuring of the
Lloyd Elsmore Park Badminton Club |

|
Following several years of
reviewing the structure of Lloyd Elsmore Park
Badminton Club we are please to announce that we
have rewritten our constitution and restructured our
club. We now have a governance board headed by
President and Chairman, Robert Bryce. At the
operational level we still have 3 hard working
committees running our 3 divisions; Midweek headed
by Midweek President Gill Wild, Juniors headed by
Juniors President Robert Hiller and Seniors headed
by Senior President Swee Han Lim. We are
currently working on a variety of projects to ensure
that the largest badminton club in Australasia once
again becomes one of the leading forces in our
sport. Our progress in the last 6 months would not
have been possible without a lot of hard work and
support from some great volunteers. A special thanks
to them. LEPBC is looking forward to Christmas and a
fantastic 2012...from the Board at LEPBC

Stars Badminton Club at the NZ Badminton Centre at
443 East Tamaki Rd. This is a brand new badminton
event called a Badminton-thon Doubles Relay
Challenge and will be held on at 3rd December at

Kevin Dennerly-Minturn
Moves Up International Player Rankings |

|
Kevin Dennerly-Minturn has moved up to 2nd place on
the Auckland International Player Rankings chart. More
importantly Kevin's BWF International doubles ranking
has shot up from the low 300s to 186 with his move to
Denmark and more regular tournament play with Oliver
Leydon-Davis (WKO). The overall rankings can be
misleading as some players have not been on the
circuit this year but they do reflect activity on the
international circuit and give some guide as to how
players who are active are progressing.

of 36th Yonex Hungarian International |

Michelle Chan made the 3rd round of the Hungarian
International after wins over Daniella Gonda (Hungary)
20-22, 21-18,21-13 and Lucie Cerna (Czech Republic)
21-8,19-21,21-7 before being beaten by Kamila Augustyn
(Poland) 21-14, 21-11. Michelle's next match is at the
Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open starting on the 15th of
November where she plays Hung Yung Chan from Hong Kong
in the first round of qualifying.

Support Program for Athletes |

Hamish and Marisa Carter along with Craig Thomson are
the key contacts and part of a brand new support
program for top athletes called Sport Connect.
This puts top young athletes in touch with Sky and
Advertisers to give them support overseas. The
young athletes develop relationships with the
sponsoring companies and are given money to support
their development overseas. This is a new
initiative and great to see potentially more support
